Help for Anxiety

If you're looking for help for anxiety there are many great places to turn. Anxiety attacks can happen at any time which can be extremely devastating for those of us who suffer from this condition.

The in this article I'll briefly talk about the places to go to when you want to look for help for anxiety. Many of these have helped me in the past with my anxiety and panic attacks.

The Best Place to Look

Personally I believe the best place to look for help for anxiety is to look inside yourself. Many times it's very easy for us to play the victim and to feel sorry for ourselves but now is not the time.

What you need to do is start taking charge of your own physical and mental health. This could be changing jobs and finding less stressful work, or leaving a stressful relationship.

Anther way to take charge is to educate yourself as much as possible about what anxiety attacks are, what physically happens to the adrenal glands and the brain during such an attack, and learning about what common treatments are.

Self Help

Personally I think self-help books can help a lot more than going to see a counselor or therapist. But in order for self-help to work you need to have the discipline to read the books and do your own journaling.

The best things that you can do is to start keeping a daily journal. Journaling about what your thoughts and your feelings are. Also try and identify when you have anxiety the most and write down what time of the day they happen, and what kind of foods you have eaten that day.

The Brain Dump

One great exercise to help relieve anxiety instantly is to do what some people call a brain dump. This is basically where you write down on a piece of paper all the tasks and items and projects that you need to do.

This exercise could take as little as five minutes are up to 15 minutes. Just sit quietly by yourself and write down everything that you need to do.

For example if you need to go shopping, get your car's oil change, fix a burned-out light-bulb, whatever you can think of. This frees up a whole lot of space in your mind so you can start thinking clearly again.

Plus because you now you it written down on paper there is less stress on your mind to try and remember all of these various projects that are going on.

In conclusion I would just like to say that help for anxiety can be found in so many places today. You can find resources on the Internet, in your library, and in almost every bookstore.
